SURVEY CONTEXT & MESSAGE FROM PASTOR JES:

LA CHURCH MAY NOT MAKE IT - THE STATE OF LA CHURCH.

As we approach our second year as a Church, we find ourselves at a difficult crossroads. We knew starting a Church like LA Church would always be an uphill battle, but we knew it would be worth the fight.

Unfortunately, LA Church is almost out of funding, and our Sunday service attendance and giving continue to grow smaller and smaller every week.

While we are content with being a small and simple church, we are currently not on a sustainable trajectory. If something doesn't change very shortly, LA Church will have to come to an end.

We do not want to see LA Church end and are working hard to find a path forward. We are exploring multiple options:

Changing the location and times of our services to find a more affordable option than our current warehouse, which currently costs $425 a Sunday
Moving to a once-a-month Sunday gathering.
Finding a financial / increased attendance path to help us stay in our current space and schedule.

This is where taking the Survey will help us get a clear vision of where we are as a community.

We are always committed to being a super low-pressure community and work hard never to pressure you to attend, give financially, or volunteer. As successful and meaningful as the work of LA Church has been and continues to be, we find ourselves in an unsustainable position. With dwindling attendance, giving, and involvement, we are in a tough spot.

We never want to come off as manipulative or shaming you into attending or giving - please know this isn't that! We just want to be clear about where we currently are as a community.

We have hope this will not be the end of LA Church, but we are concerned that coming to an end is a very real possibility.

How can you help?

Take the Survey
Commit to attending more often if possible or if it is healthy for your life. This Easter weekend is a great Sunday to start!
Commit to becoming a monthly giver - even $10 a month can make a difference.
Please let us know if you have any connections to meeting spaces or resources that could help us continue.
Pray that God would sustain this beautiful community for the sake of LA.

If you consider LA Church home or have a meaningful connection with us, please pray for a way forward into what God has called us to - to be a safe place for people to explore their faith and doubts without judgment and fear.

Ultimately, we have to ask ourselves if we want inclusive Churches like LA Church to exist or not. If we are passive they will not and the toxic exclusive gospel of American Christianity will continue to dominate the conversation of what Church and the way of Jesus is supposed to be.
